The giants of the air close up!
Due to its location in the Hohe Tauern National Park, the Raurisertal in Salzburg is an ideal home for the most impressive birds of prey in the Alps. In addition to 60 to 80 griffon vultures, the golden eagle lives in the valley. With an impressive size of 90 cm, it can be seen very well in the sky.
The secret star among the raptors is certainly the bearded vulture. These powerful animals were nearly extinct in the Alps. Through a large-scale project WWF succeeded to release around 150 animals alone in Rauriser Krumltal.
